  • I’m not shortlisted for Backup Administrator interview at GSK? WTF?

Posted on November 13th, 2009 Rewlie 2 comments

To my suprise, I’m not shortlisted for the above position, really shocked to death since I do fulfill all their requirements.

It has past 2 weeks since I go for the first interview with them, which is a language interview and technical interview, I passed all the question flawlessly, it’s my daily job what, of course I know what I am doing. The first section will be language test, some grammar and vocab test, second section will be technical test, which roaming around Netbackup and storage question. I answered all the question with ease, bare in mind I’m not over confident, I know what I was doing because that is my daily routine. Come to third section will be face to face interview with the Technical Manager. A young Chinese guy, probably between 28-30, approached me and we headed to meeting room. I was informed that there will be no video conference with Hiring Manager from UK since that fella got infected by flue, so have to quarantined.

Last week, I stumbled upon creating custom report with VBR on one of my customer. I explored inside VBR for custom report wizard, but that does not help me much. The said “custom report wizard” is not so custom, only up to certain parameters where you can create, but not up to your satisfaction level. One downside detected, ok lets move to the next big thing.

  • Stupid PHP error when you enable automatic update via cPanel

Posted on August 1st, 2009 Rewlie No comments

Hello all my friends out there!!

It has been a month since I last wrote here, due to heavy task came in and research that has need to be done, I left this blog for a while, while enabling cPanel to automatically update it’s system software.

Just about 2 weeks ago, when I tried to login to this blog again, then the shit happens, whenever I key in the username and password and click Login, the page will just refresh and nothing happened. I traced into all logs but couldnt find anything, weird. I can still login to my emails and cPanel GUI but not to all my sites, I was wondering what is actually going on.

  • Moving old Netbackup master server to new master server

Recently, we have a customer who wants to move their master server from old master server to new master server, and also upgrading from 5.0 to 6.5, but for this post, I will only blog about moving servers, not upgrade yet since upgrade is not yet done, we still waiting for the downtime from customer.

    The process looks simple, but before that, since there is 2 task involve in here, moving and upgrading, there are prerequisites that needs to be follow to make sure everything is clear on the way;

  • Officially promoted to Senior Systems Engineer

Posted on June 13th, 2009 Rewlie 2 comments

    Hi,

I’ve been busy since 2-3 weeks ago with lots of things – installation, preventive maintenance, research, simulation and user acceptance test – some of my friends even said that I have the “pressured” look, well it’s true, but it’s worth the pain in the ass.

Finally, yesterday afternoon, while I was at Ambank troubleshooting DB2 backup problem, I got an SMS from my colleague saying that new promotion email just came in, but I dont bother at that time, thinking it was for other staff, but then I saw an email from my technical coordinator congratulates me, then I know the email was meant for me.

  • Veritas Cluster Server Cluster File System – the ironic.

Posted on June 13th, 2009 Rewlie No comments

Last Monday, I was at one customer site to perform Veritas Cluster Server – Cluster File System installation. It is a very rare applications used in Malaysia due to functionality and of course, the license price. As far as I know from presales department, the license is quoted based on how many CPU’s inside the server, more you have, the more you have to pay for the license. Most of the time, customers only opt to install High Availability version, not Cluster File System version.
