Leadville driver package aka Sun StorEdge SAN Foundation Software- what is it?

Ever heard about Leadville driver? Most of you must be wondering what is it since it is not used by most end user, but used widely by enterprise level servers which connect their tape drives and storage via HBA card.

Leadville is a code name given by Sun for it’s open standard based-IO framework and device driver stack to support fiber connection (FC). With Solaris 10, it is bundled together, for release earlier than Solaris 10, you will need to download it from Sun website. It is available for SPARC, x64 and x86 platforms. It also comes with update release, but for some system administrator out there, there are reason why they use to download the driver manually and install it rather than install the whole update release, usually due to application requirements.  Read more...
